Egyptian Steel Group received the “Leading Business Award” in achieving sustainable development. Dr. Khaled Fahmy the Minster of Environment presented the award to businessman Ahmed Abou Hashima, CEO of Egyptian Steel Group, during the ceremony which was organized by the Office of Environmental Commitment and Sustainable Development at the Federation of Industries.
Eng. Sherif El Gably, President of the Chamber of Environmental Industries and the Office of Environmental Commitment, mentioned that 170 large, small and medium sized companies were competing for the award to share their success stories in the field of social responsibility and to improve awareness of sustainable development.
Egyptian Steel won, among the major industrial enterprises that excelled in compliance with the environmental standards, by using ecofriendly technologies
in its plants, also due to the group’s focus on social responsibility activities.
The group took on the development of the 20 neediest villages in Upper Egypt, 3 villages were inaugurated and they are currently working on the development of the fourth village.
On the other hand, the group announced the establishment of a technical rehabilitating center for technicians in its plant in Beni Suef Governorate to graduate trained and high skilled labor who can raise the efficiency of the industrial production.
